We Take Precaution, Yet Are Still Exposed

In the 17th century, the bubonic plague - The Black Death - rampaged through Europe. During these epidemics, individuals were contracted by the cities themselves to treat, study, and attempt to stop this raging bacterial plague, regardless of the patients’ regardless of individual income. Donned with elongated masks, wide-brim hats, leather coats, and canes, these physicians were both praised and criticized for their bravery and methods in those trying times. These were the Plague Doctors.

Bold. dramatic. history with a certain flair for the odd and provocative.
This concept was inspired by history, with a spin. Originally, a shoot based on the plague doctors but instead of having flowers stuffed in the snout of the iconic masks, the florals would be on display with dramatic and displayed poses. At the time of conception, the infamous COVID-19 pandemic erupted. This twisted the original idea, once restrictions started to lift and vaccinations were more readily available. The wardrobe was pulled back to a boudoir/dudoir style, hence the project title: We Take Precaution, Yet Are Still Exposed.
